Gene Roberts (Eugene O. Roberts) was born on January 20, 1923. After going to high school at East (Kansas City, MO), Roberts attended the University of Kansas and the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. Roberts made his professional debut in the NFL in 1947 with the New York Giants. He played for the New York Giants for his entire 4 year career.
Most people believe that 1949 was Gene Roberts's best year, as he ran for 634 yards, ran in 9 TDs, hauled in 35 receptions, had 711 receiving yards and caught 8 TD passes.
