Gene Mayl (Eugene Aloysius Mayl) was born on October 23, 1901 in Dayton, Ohio. After going to high school at St. Mary's (Dayton, OH), Mayl attended the University of Dayton and the University of Notre Dame. Mayl made his professional debut in the NFL in 1925 with the Dayton Triangles. He played for the Dayton Triangles for his entire 2 year career.
