Gene Locklear (Gene Locklear) was born on July 19, 1949 in Lumberton, North Carolina. He made his Major League debut on April 5, 1973 for the San Diego Padres. In 1973, his rookie year, he hit .233 with 3 home runs and 25 RBI. Locklear played for the San Diego Padres, Cincinnati Reds and New York Yankees over the course of his 5 year career.

Most people believe that Gene Locklear's best season was 1975, when he hit for a .321 average.
