Gene Green (Gene Leroy Green) was born on June 26, 1933 in Los Angeles, California. He made his Major League debut on September 10, 1957 for the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1958, his rookie year, he hit .281 with 13 home runs and 55 RBI. Green played for the St. Louis Cardinals, Baltimore Orioles, Washington Senators, Cleveland Indians and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 7 year career.

Most people believe that Gene Green's best season was 1958, when he hit for a .281 average and knocked in 55 runs.
