Gene Ferguson (Eugene Ferguson) was born on June 5, 1948 in Lynchburg, Virginia. After going to high school at Dunbar (Lynchburg, VA), Ferguson attended Norfolk State University. Ferguson made his professional debut in the AFL in 1969 with the San Diego Chargers. He played in the AFL for 1 year, playing for the San Diego Chargers the entire time. Ferguson also played in the NFL for 3 years, playing for the Houston Oilers and San Diego Chargers over the course of his 3 year NFL career.
