Born on June 16, 1889 in St. Louis, Missouri, Gene Dale (Emmett Eugene Dale) played for the St. Louis Cardinals and Cincinnati Reds over the course of his 4 year career. Dale broke into the bigs on September 19, 1911 with the St. Louis Cardinals, and put up a 6.57 ERA in 61.2 innings pitched in 1912, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Gene Dale's best season was 1915, when he posted a 2.46 ERA, won 18 games and struck out 104 batters.
