Born on November 10, 1930 in Muskogee, Oklahoma, Gene Conley (Donald Eugene Conley) played for the Boston Braves, Milwaukee Braves, Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Red Sox over the course of his 11 year career. Conley broke into the bigs on April 17, 1952 with the Boston Braves, and put up a 2.96 ERA in 194.1 innings pitched in 1954, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Gene Conley's best season was 1962, when he posted a 3.95 ERA, won 15 games and struck out 134 batters.
