Gary Redus (Gary Eugene Redus) was born on November 1, 1956 in Tanner, Alabama. He made his Major League debut on September 7, 1982 for the Cincinnati Reds. In 1983, his rookie year, he hit .247 with 17 home runs and 51 RBI. Redus played for the Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies, Chicago White Sox, Pittsburgh Pirates and Texas Rangers over the course of his 13 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Gary Redus's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1983, when he slugged 17 home runs, stole 39 bases and knocked in 51 runs. However, others believe that it was 1987, when he stole 52 bases.
