Frye Traded to Seahawks

19

by Wrmjr

Jay Glazer is reporting that Charlie Frye has been traded from the Cleveland Browns to the Seattle Seahawks.  What the Seahawks are giving in return has not been reported.  The move allows the Seahawks to use Seneca Wallace at WR while DJ Hackett is injured, but perhaps more significantly, it means the Brady Quinn era is likely starting soon.  If the Browns get something useful in return, this could be a good trade for both teams.

I like the trade because I want to see Quinn play against 1st team defenses now. Also, Seneca Wallace is a dangerous man out there. He can play WR, and do KR and PR. THe Seahawks say he's a very dangerous KR

The Browns need to concede the season, and just let Brady Quinn take the reigns. They'd probably be better with him under center anway.

Seahawks fans, all together now, pray for Matt Hasselbeck's health. Start now. Rosary beads optional.

Are you saying that Frye is a worse back-up than Wallace was?

Did you see any of the Browns-Steelers game? Frye looked like a deer caught in headlights. He had no clue what to do with the ball and was sacked 5 times. All of those sacks were pretty much on Frye, as he had time to throw the ball away and could not do so. Simply put, he cannot right now make decisions fast enough to play quarterback in the NFL. He was cut a lot of slack because the offensive line of the Browns was so bad that one could legitimately claim he didn't have enough time to make his reads. The O-line is still bad, but it's better than it was and Frye still looked terrible. The Steelers are a good defensive team, but Derek Anderson came in and was able to make a quick decision and get a pass in the air. One never knew where said pass was going to come down, but at least he got it in the air, something Frye was unable to do.

I should modify my statement about the Browns O-Line. Last year they were hideously bad. That caused the Browns management to cut Frye some slack, since he was running for his life most of the time. This year, the Browns O-Line has improved, but Charlie Frye's ability to make quick decisions clearly has not improved. Ergo, Charlie must go.

I agree that Anderson played better than Frye. Frye was a disaster. (I saw little of the game). You are not comparing Frye with Anderson. You are comparing Frye with Wallace. Holmgren has a pretty good track record with QBs. Hasselbeck, Brunell, Favre, Young, Montana. . . Nobody is perfect, but he must see something. As I look at their stats, Frye and Wallace appear interchangeable. I think this is about Seattle getting a serviceable back-up which then allows them to put Wallace at wideout (Hackett is injured) and kick returner.

Seneca Wallace has seemed adequate in the past. Charlie Frye has not seemed adequate at any time past or present.

The report says that Frye was dealt for a 6th round pick. The thing is, if Frye had not been dealt by 4 ET, the Browns were going to cut him. They resigned Ken Dorsey, and he may get the start this week against KC.

Charlie Frye is not happy, he will show them all. He'll throw for 4,000 yards and 40 touchdowns (in the next 12 years). He's going to rule......THE WORLD!!!! *Cue Evil Laugh*
