| Earlier this week, the NFL commissioner stated publicly that he wants to see the Super Bowl held in London. London? As in London, England? This highly intelligent idea easily gets a Friday Fryer nomination this week.
Lets think about this. The Super Bowl usually begins around 6pm eastern standard time. London is roughly six hours ahead of eastern time. This mean the Super Bowl will be starting at midnight in London.
Can you imagine the level of play that Super Bowl will have when the players are playing the game at midnight. But lets face it, if the NFL is to hold the Super Bowl in London, it is all about publicity and money. The game, itself, does not matter.
The NFL is the king of professional sports in the United States. But ideas like having the Super Bowl in London will quickly kill this league. Hence, the NFL earned this Friday Fryer nomination with ease.

| PAC-10
|
| Last week, USC, the then #1 team in college football (Division I-A), lost. The loss was to usual dormant Pac-10 team, Stanford. That week also saw another Pac-10 team, UCLA, lose to Notre Dame. Notre Dame, a team that lost all their previous games by at least double digits, actually did win a game this year!
This week, the PAC-10 had another team ranked #2 nationally. The team was California, and the key word here is “Was.” Why? It is because Cal lost their game last Saturday.
The PAC-10, a league that many thought was the best in the country, is having a rough time. At this point, it is unlikely that any PAC-10 team will go undefeated. Of course, under the BCS, a PAC-10 team may still contend for the BCS Title. None the less, the fact that all of the supposedly great teams found in the PAC-10 have already lost, and it is only mid-October, earns the PAC-10 a Friday Fryer nomination.

| Atlanta Thrashers
|
| The Thrashers made the NHL playoffs last spring. The Thrash were promptly eliminated in a four game sweep by the New York Rangers. To start the current NFL season, the Thrashers lost their first six games. By losing their first six games, the Thrashers not only earned themselves a Friday Fryer nomination, they also got their head coach fired.
It is quite possible that the Thrashers played over their heads last season. They did, after all, lose the season series to the historically pathetic Philadelphia Flyers. But to lose four straight games to finish one season, and then lose the first six of the next; that is something special. Actually, I do not believe this has ever been done before.
The season is still young. The Thrashers did win their first game this week, against those struggling New York Rangers. Yet, this win is too little, too late. Enjoy the Friday Fryer nomination though, boys!
