| Jeff George
|
| George wants to return to the NFL as a quarterback. He spoke out this week, in the hopes of latching on with the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings coach, Brad Childress, however, made it clear that this was not going to happen. Actually, Childress went beyond that. Lets look at some of the comments that the coach made:
The coach was asked if George was going in for a tryout. Childress responded “[p]robably maybe go to a fantasy camp or something like that."
Childress was also asked whether George is on the downside of his playing career. Childress answered, "Downside would probably be -- I think -- kind."
Wow! A head coach telling it like it is in the NFL. That is almost as rare as a Philadelphia sports championship! Props to Childress for doing so. But the Friday Fryer nomination goes to George, for this all but assures that his playing days in the NFL are over.

| Joe Girardi
|
| Joe was named the new manager of the New York Yankees this week. He replaces the former manager, another fellow with the first name of Joe. Unfortunately, Joe Torre won four World Series and made the playoffs every year he was the manager.
It is never easy for a person to replace a legend. Torre was a legend. Girardi, whom I think is a very good manager, may never get a chance in the Bronx. The Yankees are a team that needs to rebuild. They, however, are run by folks who don’t believe in rebuilding. If things start off slow in April, the howls for Girardi’s head will be loud and clear.
So I wish Joe Girardi good luck. The precarious situation that he will be managing in, however, earns him a Friday Fryer nomination this week. It may be all down hill from here.

| The NFL In London
|
| Hey everybody, lets play an NFL regular season game on a grass that cannot support the weight and actions of NFL players. Even better, lets do so in rain, so the grass is ripped that much more faster. Is this a bad joke? No, this was the NFL holding a regular season game in London this week.
Greed is good. But when greed makes you stupid, then it isn’t good. We have reached that point with the NFL.
The NFL needs to realize that they have a sphere of influence – yes, a Warren Buffett saying. If the NFL remains in this sphere, they can print money and be happy. If they jump out of this sphere, watch out! The decline of the NFL will be as great and as steep as the decline that MLB went through the last twenty years.
So with that said, the NFL earns a Friday Fryer nod for the stupidity that will lead them to destruction.
