| Chien-Ming Wang
|
| A little over a week ago, Wang was considered the ace of the New York Yankees starting rotation. Hence, Wang was destined to be the opening day starter for the Yankees on April 2nd. That was, until Wang blew out his hamstring. Now Wang has been placed on the DL, and may be at least a month away from returning to the game.
Here today, gone tomorrow. That can sum up both sports and overall life. For Wang, he will surely come back from this injury. But, the injury does earn him a nomination for the Friday Fryer.

| Lionel Gates
|
| Lionel Gates is a running back for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Here is a shocker, Gates is also a man who has recently been arrested. According to news reports, Gates has been arrested on charges of assaulting a pregnant woman, burglary, and criminal mischief.
Gates is not the first athlete to be arrested this year, or even this week. He is, however, the first one to be arrested for tuning up a pregnant woman. Yo Gates, what were you thinking, fool?
The NFL is expected to get tough on players who get arrested. Rumor has it, that year-long suspension may result from being sent to a pokey. I say, these suspensions cannot be put in place soon enough! Gates, along with other players who do not respect the law, or others, do not deserve the right to play in the NFL, or any other professional sports league. I cannot make that last statement a reality, however, I can nominate the person for the Friday Fryer. Lionel Gates, here is your nomination.

| New Jersey Devils
|
BORING!
For most of the 2006-2007 regular season, the Devils had it easy. Their long-time rivals, the Philadelphia Flyers crashed and burned. This allowed the Devils to build a very large lead in the Atlantic Division. This big lead, which grew to double digits in the points column, has now been completely eliminated. Actually, as of this morning, the devils are 2 points behind the charging Pittsburgh Penguins. And to make matters worse, the Devils are tied for the Ottawa Senators in points. Therefore, it is quite possible that the Devils will not only lose the division late, but will also lose home-ice advantage in the first round.
Oh, how the mighty has fallen. Part of their decline has been due to injury. This is a shame, for the Devils have become the best run hockey organization in the NHL. Being a Flyers fan, it is hard for me to accept this, however, it is the truth. Nonetheless, the decline of the Devils play over the past month, and especially this week, has earned the club a Friday Fryer nomination. Besides the nomination today, the Devils also get to play the Flyers. Thus, the Devils still have a pulse.
