Well, it is that time of the week where we find out who gets to go to the chair for their actions in the sports world.

This week's lucky winner actually was the runner up last week. Yes, my friends, the Arrested Players are the ones going to the chair this week. Remember, this is just an imaginary chair, not a real one - though with how things are progressing - an arrested player or two may get the real chair, or at least the needle one of these days.

Lets see what has taken place since I last wrote this column on June 30th.

Over the past weekend, an NHL player was arrested. Nice job!

On Sunday, Chicago Bulls mascot Benny the Bull was arrested for charging and mauling a Sherieff deputy (I am not making this stuff up).

And of course yesterday, where Cincinnati Reds relief pitcher Brian Shackelford was arrested for alleged rape of the third degree.

Three arrests in a week. This follows the arrest of Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Brett Myers the Friday before for allegedly beating his wife on a Boston stree corner. And that follows the arrests of a number of Cincinnati Bengals players. (Maybe there is something in the water in Cincinnati?)

Anyway, this year has become known as the Year of the Arrested Player and it is only July! DUI, drug charges, domestic assault, rape - these are all charges that profesional athletes have been charged with in 2006. Anyone want to take odds on when a pro athlete will commit murder this year? With how things are going, that will occur sooner rather than later.

And for all of this dishonor, the arrested players gets the reward of going to the chair today.

Congratulations!

forget which crime, we should do a Criminal pool Be like a death pool. A person has a list of players. First one to get arrested wins the pool.

Great!!! All the fun of horrible news with out the guilt of sounding crass for wishing someone dead...Death Pool, Death Pool, Death Pool...

"...with the 1st selection of the ArmchairGM death pool, Manny Stiles selects... Orenthal James Simpson, from USC!!! (OJ couldn't make it to the draft tonight, he's out finding the real killer..."

[steve bartman seems a safe choice, too]

Perhaps there should be a two seperate prisons for Sports players somewhere in the US. That way you could have inter-prison sports...
