Hey! Hey! Hey! Here comes the Friday Fryer, although a little later than usual.
Our first finalist is Pacman Jones, who is just the latest professional athlete to get busted by the police this year. Yes the Year of the Arrested Player is still thriving. Mr. Pacman was sent to the pokey for disorderly conduct and public intoxication. No word yet on whether the Cincinnati Bengals have successfully made a trade for Pacman yet. Maybe before the day is thru, NO?
Next finalist is the NFL. This is week 3 of the NFL pre-season, however, to a typical NFL fan, it seems like it is week 300. Come on boys, you have been in camp for a month - why the need for 4 pre-season games? Oh wait, there is not a regular season schedule for another two more weeks! Someone please pass me a keg, I need something to make it through these long days and nights of pre-season football.
And now the lucky winner of the Chair for this week. This winner was nominated by fellow ArmchairGM writer, Alex Holowczak. And the winner is:
Ball-Tampering Cricket Fiasco Involving Pakistan and England
Mr. ul-Haq is the captain of Pakistan’s national cricket team. In a match this week against England, Mr. ul-Haq was charged with tampering with a ball. This is like a baseball player putting cork in their bat - a blatant attempt to cheat. However, it seems as though the ball may not have been tampered with. Instead, it seems like a lead umpire, Darrel Hair, is quick with the hook. So, now there is a major controversy brewing in the cricket world – something that really is not needed at this time. And therefore, this whole incident gets the Friday Fryer Chair.
Anyway, Alex, for your nomination, you become the honoray executioner for the Friday Fryer Chair for this week. The last honorary executioner, Floyd Landis, was accused of cheating the week after he was honored. I hope the same faith does not await you!
Till next Friday, AMF!
