| David Carr
|
| Back in 2002, when the Houston Texans were first started, there was a kid by the name of David Carr that they selected with the first overall pick. He was supposed to be their franchise Quarteback, their guy to bring them glory. He was the original Houston Texan.
The year is now 2007, and Carr's career has changed dramatically. They have yet to make the playoffs under his reign, and he has a record of 22-53 as a starter. He's been sacked 249 times in his career, a league high. His completion percentage is just above .500 (1,243 of 2,070), and he has a 59-65 TD-INT ratio. Not exactly a "franchise player"
Realizing the David Carr experiment was over, the Texans aquired Matt Schuab as their second Starting QB in franchise history. Carr is subsequently released, and becomes a free agent.
Now, David Carr has a new team, the Carolina Panthers but this time, he's not the starter. Carr is to back up Jake Delhomme. He may not be in the same league as such great busts like Tim Couch or Ryan Leaf, but he comes close. First overall selections aren't supposed to end up backing up struggling QB's, or at least they shouldn't be. Congradulations David, here's your nomination...

| So, this was supposed to be the year that Don Lucia brought this historic franchise back to the big leagues and competed for a national title again.
Things started off great. We were winning, and had the WCHA regular season title in our hands. There was no way Dencer could catch us. As it turns out, Denver did almost catch us, but we hold on to win the title. So far so good, right?
Then comes the WCHA playoffs, which the Gophers have to slide by multiple inferior oppenents with game three's in order to win the WCHA frozen five. I don't quite think that's how we envisioned the Gophers winning it, Lucia.
The Gophers then recieve the top seed in the NCAA tournament. They win the first round game against Air Force, big whoop. The problem comes in the second round when the gophers it their WCHA rivals, North Dakota. We lose to North Dakota, who we beat multiple times during the regular season. That wasn't supposed to happen. The Gophers make the list because the Finals are tomorrow, and the Gophers aren't in it. Congradulations Gophers, at least you won something.

| Remember late last month when everyone was so certain that Billy Donovan was going to leave florida to coach at UK? Everyone was wrong. Billy D has announced that he will not take the job to replace former head coach Tubby Smith, and will stay as head coach of the gators, despite the fact that he is losing all of his starters from his previous two championship teams.
I like this move for Billy D because he has a chance to build his own powerhouse at florida instead of taking over one. There's nothing wrong with not accepting the job, hence the nomination going to UK instead of Billy D.
But, the problem continues, Rick Barnes, coach of the Texas Longhorns, withdrew his name from consideration earlier this week. So not only does one of the most historic schools get rejected by their top candidate, but their second guy doesn't want the job.
They had to settle on Billy Gillispie, who coached Texas A&M to a remarkable season this year. The problem is, they were forced to settle on a guy they weren't planning on hiring. Congradulations Wildcats, you've been nominated.
