Freeney Out for Season

BREAKING NEWS: Indianapolis Colts DE, Dwight Freeney, injured his foot Sunday Night against San Diego. He was put on IR earlier today. He was diagnosed with a Lisfranc injury, and it may require surgery. Even if he doesnt't undergo surgery, it will still take him months to recover. Most of the time when people suffer from Lisfranc injuries, they have to rehabilitate for months before going back to their normal lifestyle.

He was carted off the field to the locker room during the game on Sunday, and he left Qualcomm Stadium wearing a boot. Freeney believes he suffered the injury, when a Chargers blocker stepped on his foot when he was making a spin move. Indy also placed backup LB Victor Worsley on the IR today. Indy claimed former Cards, Bucs, and Broncos DE, Simeon Rice, off waivers on Monday and he practiced with the team today.

Michael Strahan suffered a similar injury last year, which also ended his season, but is healthy this year.

Why is ESPN asking the question: "Will the Colts make the playoffs?" Of course they will, just because they lost Freeney, and Peyton had one (actually two) bad games, they want to ask if the Colts will make the playoffs? Don't worry, they will be there in January, but I am not sure about February.

I agree the Colts will make it to the playoffs, maybe even with a home game. But this is devastating to the Colts' chances of a second straight Super Bowl win (hell, even a return trip!).

This is a rather serious foot injury. I would be very suprised if the orthopedist/podiatrist did not recommend surgery.

This should bump the Steelers to number 2 in the BCS.

Agreed that number 2 seed will be crucial come playoff time.

This is a huge blow to the Colt's defense but if any team can recover from losing a star player it's the Colts. Hopefully Rice will come in and play some inspired football and be a decent fill-in for Freeney.

Same injury that effectively destroyed Duce Staley.

Yeah they will make the playoffs BUT the #2 seed is in jeopardy AND they now have put their division title into play as well. If they lose to either Jax of Tenn then they are going the wild card route. (because if they lose to one of them then they'll lose 2-3 other games this season) I would not want to be a colts fan right now, because they are not showing the character of a defending super bowl champ. They aren't dealing well with the injuries, and the wheels could fall off the wagon quicker than anyone could imagine.
