Freddy Sanchez (Frederick Philip Sanchez) was born on December 21, 1977 in Hollywood, California. He made his Major League debut on September 10, 2002 for the Boston Red Sox. In 2005, his rookie year, he hit .291 with 5 home runs and 35 RBI. Sanchez played for the Boston Red Sox and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 5 year career.

Most people believe that Freddy Sanchez's best season was 2006, when he hit for a .344 average and knocked in 85 runs, winning the National League batting title.

rederick Phillip Sanchez...Wife's name is Alissa...Has one son; Evan (4/19/05)...Is a 1996 graduate of Burbank High School in Burbank, CA, where he was a three-year varsity player...Hit .419 and drove in 18 runs while being named the Foothill League MVP during his senior season...Was rated as the No. 3 prospect from area high schools...Attended Glendale (CA) Community College...Batted .407 in the Western State Conference with 10 home runs and 33 RBI as a freshman to lead the team to a co-championship and its first playoff appearance since 1981...Was named the Western State Conference co-MVP and the Western State Conference Southern Division Player-of-the-Year as a sophomore...Transferred to Dallas Baptist University as a junior, where he played in the NAIA World Series and was named the shortstop on the All-Tournament team...Transferred to Oklahoma City University in 2000 and hit .434 with 13 home runs and 59 RBI while committing just nine errors in 222 total chances @shortstop...Was also named a NAIA All-American as a senior...Was originally signed by Boston scout Ernie Jacobs...Played on the same summer league team as Jack Wilson in high school (Freddy played shortstop and Jack played second base)...Participated in the team's annual winter caravan this past January.
