Born on July 26, 1901 in Mishawaka, Indiana, Freddie Fitzsimmons (Frederick Landis Fitzsimmons) played for the New York Giants and Brooklyn Dodgers over the course of his 19 year career. Fitzsimmons broke into the bigs on August 12, 1925 with the New York Giants, and put up a 2.65 ERA in 74.2 innings pitched in 1925, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Freddie Fitzsimmons's best season was 1934, when he posted a 3.04 ERA, won 18 games and struck out 73 batters.
