Dixie Walker (Fred Walker) was born on September 24, 1910 in Villa Rica, Georgia. He made his Major League debut on April 28, 1931 for the New York Yankees. In 1933, his rookie year, he hit .274 with 15 home runs and 51 RBI. Walker played for the New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox, Detroit Tigers, Brooklyn Dodgers and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 18 year career.

Most people believe that Dixie Walker's best season was 1945, when he hit for a .300 average and knocked in 124 runs.
