Fred Shirey (Charles Frederick Shirey) was born on January 12, 1916 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania. Shirey attended the University of Nebraska. Shirey made his professional debut in the NFL in 1940 with the Green Bay Packers. He played for the Cleveland Rams and Green Bay Packers over the course of his 2 year career.
