Fred Sanford

Born on August 9, 1919 in Garfield, Utah, Fred Sanford (John Frederick Sanford) played for the St. Louis Browns, New York Yankees and Washington Senators over the course of his 7 year career. Sanford broke into the bigs on May 5, 1943 with the St. Louis Browns, and put up a 3.71 ERA in 186.2 innings pitched in 1947, his rookie year.
Most people believe that Fred Sanford's best season was 1948, when he posted a 4.64 ERA, won 12 games and struck out 79 batters.
