Born on July 3, 1881 in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Fred Olmstead (Frederic William Olmstead) played for the Chicago White Sox for his entire 4 year career. Olmstead broke into the bigs on July 2, 1908 with the Chicago White Sox, and put up a 1.81 ERA in 54.2 innings pitched in 1909, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Fred Olmstead's best season was 1910, when he posted a 1.95 ERA, won 10 games and struck out 68 batters.
