Fred Newman

Born on February 21, 1942 in Boston, Massachusetts, Fred Newman (Frederick William Newman) played for the Los Angeles Angels and California Angels over the course of his 6 year career. Newman broke into the bigs on September 16, 1962 with the Los Angeles Angels, and put up a 2.75 ERA in 190 innings pitched in 1964, his rookie year.
Most people believe that Fred Newman's best season was 1965, when he posted a 2.93 ERA, won 14 games and struck out 109 batters.
