Born on January 27, 1901 in Camden, New Jersey, Fred Heimach (Frederick Amos Heimach) played for the Philadelphia Athletics, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Brooklyn Robins and Brooklyn Dodgers over the course of his 13 year career. Heimach broke into the bigs on October 1, 1920 with the Philadelphia Athletics, and put up a 5.03 ERA in 171.2 innings pitched in 1922, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Fred Heimach's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1924, when he posted a 4.73 ERA, won 14 games and struck out 60 batters. However, others believe that it was 1931, when he posted a 3.46 ERA.
