Fred Hartman (Frederick Lilburn Hartman) was born on May 21, 1917 in Dallas, Texas. After going to high school at Pampa (TX), Hartman attended Rice University. Hartman made his professional debut in the NFL in 1947 with the Chicago Bears. He played for the Philadelphia Eagles and Chicago Bears over the course of his 2 year career.

Most people believe that 1947 was Fred Hartman's best year, as he ran back an interception for a touchdown.
