Fred Gehrke (Clarence Fred Gehrke) was born on April 24, 1918 in Salt Lake City, Utah. After going to high school at South (Salt Lake City, UT), Gehrke attended The Univesity of Utah. Gehrke made his professional debut in the NFL in 1940 with the Cleveland Rams. He played for the Los Angeles Rams, Cleveland Rams and San Francisco 49ers over the course of his 7 year career.

Most people believe that 1945 was Fred Gehrke's best year, as he ran in 7 TDs and picked off 4 passes.
