Fred Crawford (Frederick Eugene Crawford) was born on July 27, 1910 in Waynesville, North Carolina. After going to high school at McCallie (Chattanooga, TN) and Tusciola (NC), Crawford attended Duke University. Crawford made his professional debut in the NFL in 1935 with the Chicago Bears. He played for the Chicago Bears for his entire 1 year career.
