Born on February 8, 1888 in Redlands, California, Fred Blanding (Frederick James Blanding) played for the Cleveland Naps for his entire 5 year career. Blanding broke into the bigs on September 15, 1910 with the Cleveland Naps, and put up a 3.68 ERA in 176 innings pitched in 1911, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Fred Blanding's best season was 1912, when he posted a 2.92 ERA, won 18 games and struck out 75 batters.
