Fred Beck (Frederick Thomas Beck) was born on November 17, 1886 in Havana, Illinois. He made his Major League debut on April 14, 1909 for the Boston Doves. In 1909, his rookie year, he hit .198 with 2 home runs and 27 RBI. Beck played for the Boston Doves, Philadelphia Phillies, Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Whales over the course of his 5 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Fred Beck's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1910, when he hit for a .275 average and knocked in 64 runs. However, others believe that it was 1914, when he hit for a .279 average and knocked in 77 runs.
