Born on December 11, 1885 in Calahan, North Carolina, Fred Anderson (John Frederick Anderson) played for the Boston Red Sox, Buffalo Blues and New York Giants over the course of his 7 year career. Anderson broke into the bigs on September 25, 1909 with the Boston Red Sox, and put up a 5.97 ERA in 57.1 innings pitched in 1913, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Fred Anderson's best season was 1915, when he posted a 2.51 ERA, won 19 games and struck out 142 batters.
