Frankie Sinkwich (Francis F. Sinkwich) was born on October 10, 1920 in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania. After going to high school at Chaney (Youngstown, OH), Sinkwich attended the University of Georgia. Sinkwich made his professional debut in the NFL in 1943 with the Detroit Lions. He played in the NFL for 2 years, playing for the Detroit Lions the entire time. Sinkwich also played in the AAFC for 2 years, playing for the New York Yankees the entire time.

Most people believe that 1944 was Frankie Sinkwich's best year, as he tossed 12 TDs, ran for 563 yards, ran in 6 TDs, picked off 3 passes and had a 41 yard punt average.
