Frank Thomas (Frank Joseph Thomas) was born on June 11, 1929 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He made his Major League debut on August 17, 1951 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1951, his rookie year, he hit .264 with 2 home runs and 16 RBI. Thomas played for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Cincinnati Reds, Chicago Cubs, Milwaukee Braves, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies and Houston Astros over the course of his 15 year career.

There is some disagreement on what was Frank Thomas's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1958, when he slugged 35 home runs, hit for a .281 average and knocked in 109 runs. However, others believe that it was 1954, when he slugged 23 home runs, hit for a .298 average and knocked in 94 runs.
