Frank Pietrangelo is probably best remembered for his one play in the Stanley Cup playoffs when he dove to his left to make a dramatic glove save against Peter Stastny, who was shooting toward an open net, in first period of Game 6 of Pittsburgh's first-round playoff series at New Jersey. The play became known in Pittsburgh as "The Save," Pietrangelo's stop helped the Penguins to a 4-3 win and force a seventh game. Pietrangelo then shut out the Devils 4-0 in Game 7.

After concluding his NHL career Frank went on to play several years of hockey in Europe.
