Born on April 10, 1930 in Northport, Alabama, Frank Lary (Frank Strong Lary) played for the Detroit Tigers, New York Mets, Milwaukee Braves and Chicago White Sox over the course of his 12 year career. Lary broke into the bigs on September 14, 1954 with the Detroit Tigers, and put up a 3.10 ERA in 235 innings pitched in 1955, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Frank Lary's best season was 1961, when he posted a 3.24 ERA, won 23 games and struck out 146 batters.
