Frank Hanny (Frank Matthew Hanny) was born on December 10, 1897 in Aurora, Illinois. After going to high school at West (Aurora, IL), Hanny attended Indiana University. Hanny made his professional debut in the NFL in 1923 with the Chicago Bears. He played for the Chicago Bears, Providence Steam Roller and Portsmouth Spartans over the course of his 8 year career.
