Frank Coughlin (Francis Edward Coughlin) was born on February 28, 1896 in Chicago, Illinois. After going to high school at Englewood (Chicago, IL), Coughlin attended the University of Notre Dame. Coughlin made his professional debut in the APFA in 1921 with the Rock Island Independents. He played for the Rock Island Independents for his entire 1 year career.
