Frank Bates

Born on September 28, 1876 in Cleveland, Tennessee, Frank Bates (Creed Napoleon Bates) played for the Cleveland Spiders and St. Louis Perfectos over the course of his 2 year career. Bates broke into the bigs on October 7, 1898 with the Cleveland Spiders, and put up a 6.90 ERA in 161.2 innings pitched in 1899, his rookie year.
