Just Look at the Title of this Blog and think about that statement.
Now, Look at it again: Forsberg Headed To Nashville......
Don't Believe, Go to the Predators Website and see for yourself at: http://www.nashvillepredators.com/pressbox/news.asp?story_id=1240
Right now, Every GM of a Western Conference Team cursed in unison......
Just when you were wondering if Nashville was for real, considering they have the best record in the Western Conference but play in one of the softest divisions in the NHL, this trade just legitimatized the Predators as Stanley Cup Contenders.
Forsberg, a two-time Stanley Cup champion, can be one of the most dominant players when healthy. Recently, Forsberg came back from injury and has posted points in each of his last three games (1-5-6) and points in 8 of his last ten games (3-10-13) for the Philadelphia Flyers. Thus, a healthy Forsberg and a hungry and young Predators could be primed for a Stanley Cup Run, thanks to this transaction.
With Forsberg on their roster, The Predators now have only their goaltending to look at as a possible concern. Last year, current starting goaltender Tomas Vokoun had to leave the team just before the playoffs started with a heart and blood condition. Thus, Chris Mason was thrown into the net, unprepared the challenge of leading his team to the Stanley Cup Finals as the Predators lost to the Sharks in Round 1 of the 2006 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
If the goaltending can rise to the challenge of becoming the best netminder in each playoff round for the Predators, matched with a roster of players bolstered by the acquisition of Peter Forsberg, this team should contend for the Stanley Cup.
Think about that, the silver chalice might be headed to Music City USA......That's a thought every team in the West will now have nightmares from now until the start of the playoffs.....
