Former Fresno State tackle, Logan Mankins is getting rave reviews from one Hall of Famer, John Hannah.
Mankins, a current guard for the New England Patriots and first time NFL all-star was recently featured in an article by Mike Reiss of the Boston Globe.
Hannah has been observing New England offensive linemen for years, especially the play of the guards. Hannah was a guard, himself, and has high standards whern it comes to the position.
"One thing that I have noticed he's doing well, and I haven't seen guys do it in a long time, is that he is a headhunter. I like to see that. When he is uncovered and a guy is not coming toward him, he really goes and whacks the guy who is coming over the center or tackle instead"
Mankins was a tackle in college, but was tested to fill in for the departing Joe Andruzzi (who left in 2004). In the 2005 training camp, Logan won the starting job and has held the position since.
Fresno State has been primarily known for it's production of NFL caliber wide receivers and a few running backs and quarterbacks. But just recently, other skilled player positions have been making the pros after their time in Fresno.
It is good to see that Logan is becoming one of those players that other players notice. Congrats on your first Pro Bowl!
