Josh Fogg Trying for Third Postseason Win
Josh Fogg has surprisingly been the best Rockies starter in the postseason with a 2-0 record and a 1.13 ERA. Fogg has a history of giving up more hits than innings pitched and gave up about 30 more hits than innings pitched in the last three seasons.
The Boston Red Sox are not a team to give up a lot of hits to or Fogg could find himself in deep trouble. His opponent, Daisuke Matsuzaka, could either be as focused as he was last game or revert to the way he pitched in his other starts in the postseason. His postseason record is 1-1 with a 5.65 ERA. The question is if he can adjust to a raucous Rockies crowd if he struggles and tune them out.
We still have not seen the Rockies offense come alive. When one player like Matt Holliday has 4 of the 5 hits in a game like he did on Thursday night it shows the Rockies were not ready for the Red Sox after the long layoff. We may never know if it was the long layoff or just facing a better team that caused the Rockies to fall into this hitting slump the last two games but one thing for sure is that time is running out if they want to bring a World Championship to Colorado.
The Red Sox have outscored the Rockies 15-2 in the first two games and have outhit them 23-11. Rockies hitters have only walked three times while Red Sox hitters have walked 15 times and Rockies have struck out 22 times while the Red Sox have struck out 9 times. Red Sox hitters have outslugged Rockies .507-.246 and outhit them .333 to .180.
Unless the Rockies can start hitting and pitching better we may be seeing our next to last game of the World Series tonight and the last game tomorrow.
