Floyd Rice (Floyd Elliott Rice) was born on August 31, 1949 in Natchez, Mississippi. After going to high school at Sadie V. Thompson (Natchez, MS), Rice attended Alcorn State University. Rice made his professional debut in the NFL in 1971 with the Houston Oilers. He played for the San Diego Chargers, Houston Oilers, Oakland Raiders and New Orleans Saints over the course of his 8 year career.

Most people believe that 1973 was Floyd Rice's best year, as he ran back a fumble for a touchdown.
