Born on June 10, 1955 in Pierre, South Dakota, Floyd Bannister (Floyd Franklin Bannister) played for the Houston Astros, Seattle Mariners, Chicago White Sox, Kansas City Royals, California Angels and Texas Rangers over the course of his 15 year career. Bannister broke into the bigs on April 19, 1977 with the Houston Astros, and put up a 4.04 ERA in 142.2 innings pitched in 1977, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Floyd Bannister's best season was 1983, when he posted a 3.35 ERA, won 16 games and struck out 193 batters.
