Something is wrong in the three major Florida colleges. If it's not the cheating in Florida State, Miami U getting 500 arrests, or Florida DB Tony Joiner and the burglary arrest, it has been a big problem recently. Today, tragedy struck.
Walk-On DB Michael Guilford was killed this morning in a motorcycle accident. The 19 year old redshirt freshman was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, nor was the passenger, fellow Florida alumnus Ashley Slonina, who also perished. According to ESPN, the Kawasaki had struck a median near the Florida campus at 1 A.M EST. Police say that the bike's speed was 20-30 MPH over the speed limit. The toxicology reports are pending, and Urban Meyer addressed the story later today.
"We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Michael Guilford," coach Urban Meyer said in a statement. "He was an outstanding, quality young man that was loved, respected and admired by all of us. His unselfish efforts on helping his teammates getting ready to play every week were only a glimpse of the person he was."
So yet another tragic case in college football, this coming days after Taylor Bradford from Memphis was gunned down.
