Fire Skip Bayless and end the sensationalism

I watch First Take for at least 20 minutes every morning for no reason other than I'm a complete dork and major sports fan. I know I can just not watch the show, but then what would I do... following "real" news is no fun, especially when I'm listening to the tv in the living room from my bathroom (I know we all do this).

This morning, from the throne that is my toilet, I heard Skip Bayless say Alex Rodriguez "should be on the verge of 500 home runs (more or less those exact words)." ARE YOU KIDDING ME?

Nobody "should" be close to 500 homers at 32 years old, yet Skip thinks it's no big deal because AROD has the perfect athletic body... hey, if the guy is naturally athletic why shouldn't he be on pace to shatter the all-time home run record, right?

Give me a break. Skip Bayless, and ESPN for the most part, have begun sensationalizing every story and every angle over the past couple of years. I don't blame them for heavily covering things like Mike VIck and Bud Selig and the ref scandal because those things are big news, but there's a difference between devoting a lot of coverage and stirring up almost non-existent angles for the sake of sounding edgy.

Bayless is one of the top spinsters on ESPN. This guy would condemn the future curer of cancer because he might've "been on something" that gave him an advantage over fellow doctors. How does he still have a job? Honestly.

I don't want to attack Bayless as a person, because for all I know he's a great guy, but he goes overboard in his job as reporter. The guy is supposed to give his opinions, but when your opinions seem to be formed only to provoke opposition from fellow commentators, something seems fishy.

I don't mean fishy as in ESPN is conspiring to make this person popular or that person unpopular, I mean fishy in the sense that ESPN and many other media outlets seem to think the only way the public will stay interested is if everyone is villified or made to look like a hero.

Does ESPN really need to look hard to find a reason to fire Skip Bayless? Or Jay Mariotti? Or Sean Salisbury? Or etc. etc. etc.

Bayless is a bum, as is Mariotti. I do like Salisbury more as a commentator than I ever did as a player, I do find him more fun to watch when John Clayton is around. Free Woody Paige, and Harold Reynolds.

I think the only reason I like Woody Paige was because he use to annoy the hell out of Bayless. Those were good times. You could actually see veins swelling around Bayless' head every time Woody said or did something weird.

Amen! Skip Bayless is a giant tool. Here's where you can send feedback to ESPN to fire him http://proxy...espn/contact
