Los Angeles Angels Third Baseman and utility specialist, Chone Figgins will miss at least five weeks after an injury to his right hand. Another X-ray was taken this past Friday, revealing more damage to his right hand.
Originally, Figgins, thought that the fractured tip of his middle finger wouldn’t cost him more than a few days. He injured his hand when he misplayed Conor Jackson’s ground ball in a Wednesday game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Maicer Izturis will likely be the opening day starter at third base until Figgins returns. Izturis started 78 games at third last season. Robb Quinlan should also see more time there until Figgins is able to return returns. More possibilities include Erik Aybar and Shea Hillenbrand.
