[edit] Biography

Born on November 1, 1960 in Navojoa, Sonora (Mexico), Fernando Valenzuela (Fernando (Anguamea) Valenzuela) played for the Los Angeles Dodgers, California Angels, Baltimore Orioles, Philadelphia Phillies, San Diego Padres and St. Louis Cardinals over the course of his 17 year career. Valenzuela broke into the bigs on September 15, 1980 with the Los Angeles Dodgers, and put up a 2.48 ERA in 192.1 innings pitched in 1981, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Fernando Valenzuela's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1986, when he posted a 3.14 ERA, won 21 games and struck out 242 batters. However, others believe that it was 1985, when he posted a 2.45 ERA, won 17 games and struck out 208 batters.
