[edit] Biography

Born on November 16, 1981 in Toa Baja, Puerto Rico, Fernando Cabrera (Fernando Jose Cabrera) played for the Cleveland Indians for his entire 3 year career. Cabrera broke into the bigs on August 20, 2004 with the Cleveland Indians, and put up a 5.19 ERA in 60.2 innings pitched in 2006, his rookie year.

Cabrera's slider has been called the most unhittable pitch in the majors [1]. The effectiveness of this pitch made him an incredibly effective piece of the 2005 Indians bullpen.

In March 2006, Cabrera worked as the closer for Team Puerto Rico in the World Baseball Classic.

However, since the start of the 2006 Major League season, Cabrera has had difficulties with control, and his walk and home run rates have made him a much less effective reliever than he was in 2005.
