Felton predicts Bobcats will reach playoffs

Yes, you are reading this correctly! Yes we are talking about the Charlotte Bobcats. Bobcats second-year point guard, Raymond Felton has predicted that his Bobcats, yes the new Charlotte Bobcats, would make the playoffs, but with a big if: His key teammates must stay healthy.

Plagued by injuries all season, the Cats won their last four games to finish 26-56. In my books, thats well short of a playoff appearance. Emeka Okafor missed the final 49 games with a chronic ankle injury, Sean May played in just 23 games after two knee surgeries, and leading scorer Gerald Wallace also missed 27 games with various injuries.

This might be the funniest prediction in the history of gurantees. Its clearly a marketing move for the Cats, but seriously, where have they improved? The "if healthy" statement waters down the gurantee, though.

As crazy as this may sound, its not that far fetched. The Bobcats have gone about creating a team the old fashion way by using their high draft picks to form a team, and not just finding talent. While the 06/07 season may be early for the playoff run, but 07/08 is definitly possible think of the lineup. Felton, Okafur, Morrison, G. Wallace and pick up 1 big name veteran free agent, and thats a solid squad who can be together for a long time.

I think they have a shot if they click as a team. The eighth, and usually seventh, spots are usually wide open in the east.

In no particular order Detroit, Cleveland, Miami, Indiana, Jersey and Chicago are the only teams really expected to be in the playoffs from the east. Remember last year Milwaulkee got in two games under .500.

Where have they improved? How about every spot on the friggin roster? Every guy has another year of experience, another year closer to reaching their potential. BTW, Primoz Brezec is one of the most underrated centers in the league.

too early for a playoff birth, my prediction: 36-46, they have some nice talent coming in, but id give them another few years before we think of a playoff birth. - steve

well they've assembled a team of college all-stars (Felton, Okafur, Morrison) so I think they'll be a serious contender in 2-3 years

If Morrison can stay healthy and they can keep those 3 guys, and bring in 1 or 2 not spectacular, but good all around defensive players, then i'd give them 2-4 years to mature then i will take them seriously in the playoffs.
