Roger Federer: Federer is an amazing player and definitely deserves to be acknowledged as the best player in the world. He has not lost in 27 consecutive Tennis Grand Slam matches and has been first in the rankings for an eternity, and this should be enough to warrant him the favorite going into the finals. However, the crack in Federer's armor is the clay court of the French Open. This is the only Grand Slam tournament that Federer has not won. He came close last year but lost in the finals to Nadal. This year, Federer has battled his way to the finals, ousting the competition easily until yesterday's match with Nalbadian. Federer was in firm control of the 3rd set (after losing the first set 3-6) before Nalbadian had to retire with a stomach strain. A bittersweet entrance to the finals, Federer may be a little uneasy going into the finals.
Rafael Nadal: Rafael Nadal and his bulging biceps did their part in getting to the championship round, easily beating Ljubicic in straight sets. He appears to have the momentum going into the finals and shows no problems with the clay court. Nadal has the home court advantage in terms of the court and the fact that he is last year's champion. The final thing that Nadal has is knowing he can beat Federer again. Last week, Nadal stated that he becomes more familiar with how to beat Federer every time they play. Being last year's champion may make him the favorite, but a lot of people want Federer to win the tournament that has eluded him in his career.
