Fed up with Boston and New York

The Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees are set to face off in a five game set this weekend. Not only is this series going to play a factor in the American League Wild Card, but the American League East champion may be decided by the outcome of the series.
Every year it seems the Yankees are the favorites to win the World Series. And if there not? Don't worry they will buy a few star players off clubs who can't afford to blow money like the evil empire and suddenly be contenders again.
With a payroll as high as the Yankees, why shouldn't they be in the World Series every year?
Boston, on the other hand, never manages to put everything together. Sure they finally won a World Series, but have since slipped back into their traditional roles as choke artists. Soon their fans will be back to complaining about how they can never seem to get by the Yankees.
The one thing I like about fans in Kanas City and Cleveland is that even though they haven't won a title in awhile, they don't whine and complain like the Red Sox fans did. Bill Buckner this and Aaron Boone that, no one cares. The team can only blames themselves for not winning a title in 86 years.
As much fun as it would be to wach these two underachieving big market teams slug it out, I will find something else to watch on TV this weekend. Why do I hate both Boston and New York? Because they have two of the top payrolls in baseball and have to struggle to get into the playoffs every season. (well the Red Sox do)
ESPN's top show Sportscenter, which has become almost unbearable to watch lately, always treats Boston and New York like they are the only two teams in all of Major League baseball. Almost everyday I turn on Sportscenter and listen to John Kruk and failed former GM Steve Phillips bicker about whether fans in New York should boo Alex Rodriguez. Who cares? If fans want to boo at a player who they think is performing poorly, let them they pay their hard earned money to watch the guy play.
The other thing which has really been irratating me lately is Detroit, which is easily the best team in baseball, has been predicted to have no chance against either Boston or New York in the playoffs. Detriot has superior pitching and finds ways to win ball games and I hope they win the World Series because it would be nice to see a smaller market team take the title.
In a dream world when the season started every team would have a chance at making the playoffs. However, in the AL East only two teams have a chance of winning that division because they outspend everyone else. Tampa Bay and Baltimore do not have sufficient funds to compete with Boston and New York. Until the time when the league somehow finds a way to balance the competition in the league, I say boycott the Yankees-Red Sox series don't encourage ESPN to broadcast every Yankees-Sox game. While it may be a great rivalry it symbolizes everything wrong with Major League Baseball.
